Joe Brophy
Vicarstown, Laois

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Constance, children Anne, John, Emer, Yvonne, Joseph and Barry, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his daughter Emer’s residence Ballyrider, Stradbally (R32 Y8X6) on Tuesday from 2pm with Rosary at 8pm.

Removal on Wednesday at 11:30am arriving The Church of the Assumption Vicarstown for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to Moyanna Cemetery.

House Private on Wednesday Morning, Please.


Mary (Maisie) Ryan (née Lawlor)
Carlow Road, Garrendenny, Crettyard, Carlow/Kilkenny/Laois

Sadly missed by her loving husband Paddy, daughter Angela, brother-in-law John, cousins, extended family, her wonderful carer, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlecomer (R95 AK38) from 5pm on Monday (12th Feb.), concluding with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7pm.

Funeral cortege arriving at the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mayo, Crettyard (R93 HY94) on Tuesday for Requiem Mass at 12 Noon. Maisie will be laid to rest thereafter in the adjoining cemetery.


Sheila Byrne (née Guyton)
Boley Lower, Abbeyleix, Laois, R32 R867

Sheila died peacefully at The Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Predeceased by her husband John.

Sadly missed by her son Martin, daughters Karen, Lorna and Hayley, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, sons in law, daughter in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence from 3 oc on Monday. Removal from her residence at 10.30 on Wednesday morning to Newlands Cross Crematorium.This can be viewed on the webcam at Newlands Cross Crematorium at 12 oc approx.


Johanna O’Dooley
Grange Upper, Stradbally, Laois, R32Y9R6

Johanna O’Dooley, in her 96th year, Renowned historian. Deeply regretted by Joseph and Mary (Maung), Mary’s husband Crispen, their children Liam, Eilish and Thomas, cousins, extended family, relatives and all her neighbours.

Reposing at Ann and Pat Devitt’s home (eircode R32Y9R6) on Monday 12th February from 3pm- 7pm, with Rosary Recital at 7pm.

Requiem Mass on Tuesday 13th February at 11am, in the Church of the Holy Cross Ratheniska, follwed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. No flowers. House strictly private on Tuesday morning, please.


Gaye Martin
Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Laois/Ballyfermot, Dublin

Gaye Martin. The Green, Kilminchy, Portlaoise and formerly Ballyfermot, Dublin. Died February 8th.

Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Deeply regretted by her loving daughters Nicola and Lucy, sons Andrew and John, sister Joy, brothers Stew and Tossy, sons in law, daughters in law, her 12 adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm. Rosary at 7:30pm.

Removal on Monday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 12 noon requiem mass. Cremation will take place on Tuesday at 11 am in Newlands Cross Crematorium and will be streamed on https://www.dctrust.ie/location/newlands-cross/chapel-webstream.html

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to the Irish Cancer Society night nurses. The family ask for bright colours to be worn to celebrate Gaye’s bright and colourful life.
