In Pictures: Great celebrations as Camross GAA remember magical 2023

There were great celebrations in the Dooleys Hotel in Birr on Friday night as Camross GAA club came together.

2023 was a magical year for the club’s senior hurling team as they won all around them.

The season began with glory in the Leinster Hurling League and continued into Division 1 of the Laois league.

The championship is always the pinnacle in Camross and they achieved success by defeating Abbeyleix in the final last October.

The players received their medals for all three of those triumphs on the night.

Also presented on the night were the Cannon Collier awards on behalf of the club and the Collier family.

Rick Bannon and Conor Mortimer were the recipients in memory of Cannon Sean Collier who trained Camross to their first ever championship back in 1959.

Camross also decided to honour their vice presidents as presidents, the 1959 winning panel members and trustees, and honour their 1976 Leinster Final winning panel.

They were presented with certs with legendary Offaly hurler Brian Whelahan there as guest of honour.

These were followed by brilliant music from new upcoming band Hammer & Tongs from the Portarlington area. While DJ Noel Brennan kept the party going.

Sinead Phelan captured some brilliant pictures on the night.
