Laois Hurlers Golfing Society set to tee off for 2024 season next month

The Laois Hurlers Golf Society are set to tee off again with the 2024 season due to get underway next month.

The season’s opener takes place in Rathdowney golf club on Saturday, April 6, with tee times available from 8.50am to 10.50am.

This is a slightly earlier start than usual as the society normally don’t begin until May of each year.

This will be the first of three outings that the society will stage this year.

The Captain’s Prize takes place in August and they conclude with a visit to the Heath in late September.

Annual membership is €20 and each outing costs €20, however, that will kept under review.

Alex Stenson of the Laois Hurlers Society encouraged new members to come forward.

He said: “If you know of anyone interested in joining let me know on 086-2570757 and I will add them to the contact list.

“Wishing you all an enjoyable year’s golf and looking forward to seeing you all on the 6th.” More anon.

On the Inter County front, the Laois Hurlers Society is affiliated to the All-Ireland Hurlers Golfing Society “Na hIomanaithe”.

Participants include county hurlers, many of them household names, and provides an ideal opportunity to meet and test your skills against these former legends of the game.

Members of the Laois Hurlers Society, who have represented Laois at any level, have the opportunity of participating in these All Ireland Hurlers events.

At their recent AGM, John Delaney and Richie Moloney were elected Captain and President respectively.

John will host his Captain’s prize in Rathdowney, on Friday May 17, while Richie will host his President’s Prize in Mountrath on Friday July 19.

To conclude, an Inter County team event takes place in early September.
