Garda selected to represent Laois at 17th Mr Personality Macra festival

Michéal Kiheeney

Michéal Kiheeney will represent Laois at the 17th Annual Mr Personality Festival which is being organised by Kilkenny County Macra na Feirme.

The festival will take place from April 5 to 6 at The Talbot Hotel, Clonmel.

The festival has been sponsored by Kilkenny, Carlow, and District Farm Relief Services.

Michaél is 30 years old, originally from Galway and spent time living in Roscommon before becoming a member of the Garda Síochána and is now stationed in Laois.

He is an active member of Mountmellick Macra na Feirme and has listed the Capers final in 2024 as one of his most memorable Macra moments.

His hobbies and interests include framing, forestry, musical theatre, cars, music, GAA, and swimming.

He is a man of many talents. Michaél believes he will make a good representative for Laois because he is unapologetically himself.

He tries to persuade younger lads or girls to be the same as long as they are happy within their own skin, he is happiest when the people he cares about are safe and happy.

He has a jam-packed weekend ahead of him. The contestants will arrive at The Talbot Hotel at 2pm on April 5 and will be heading out for their first group activity of the weekend.

On their arrival back to the hotel, the on-stage interviews will kick off at 7.30pm.

The on-stage interviews will be conducted by our MC, Miss Michelle Heffernan from Beat 102-103.

This will be followed by music from the much-anticipated GAA band and DJ til late.

Michaél will have an early start on Saturday morning with contestant private interviews with our judges.

Once the interview is finished, Michaél will be heading for some jiving lessons with Niall Doorhy; anyone interested is welcome to attend.

After lunch, the contestant challenges will take place which will see Michaél be put through his paces.

On Saturday evening, Michaél will be donning his suit and meeting with Kilkenny, Carlow and District Farm Relief Services and have their official photos taken. This is followed by the banquet, starting at 6:30pm.

This year, the Mr Personality committee have a very special guest making an appearance for the banquet- so make sure you get your seat early as it’s a surprise you really don’t want to miss out on.

The Loose Canons will be playing hit after hit, until Mr Personality 2024 is announced at 12 midnight. The DJ will be continuing the celebrations til the early morning.

Kilkenny County Macra na Feirme ensures that there will be no shortage of Macra activity during the weekend in Clonmel, as we will see the return of the Hurling and Camogie competition this year.
