Ladies Football: Leinster U-16 ‘C’ final ahead for Laois following big win over Wicklow

Leinster U-16 ‘C’ Ladies Football Championship Semi Final 

The Laois Ladies U-16 footballers have a Leinster final to look forward to after they defeated Wicklow at the weekend.

This ‘C’ semi final took place in Heywood with Laois running out seven point winners.

Timahoe’s Niamh Dundon and Portlaoise’s Rebecca Cahill both rattled the net in the opening half.

Yasmin Bishop and Beibheann Lavery replied for Wicklow but Laois led 2-2 to 0-3 at half time.

Wicklow came out strongly in the second half with a goal from Bishop helping them cut the gap to two points.

But Laois gathered themselves with the excellent duo of Niamh Dundon and Rebecca Cahill taking their goals tally to two each.

Points from Maya Donoghue and Lucie O’Reilly ensured that Laois won by seven in the end.

Laois now progress to the final where they will take on Offaly in Kinnegad on Saturday at 1pm.
