Fianna Fáil Cllr Paschal McEvoy is looking for Minister Donnelly to intervene in the hopes of restoring the GP services to Ballylinan Health Centre.

Bed and Breakfast, Delaney’s Roadhouse in Ballintogher, Ballybrittas was recently aquired for €550,000.

A Laois County Councillor has urged the Local Authority to purchase a plot of land with “huge potential for future development.”

Fine Gael Cllr PJ Kelly proposed that the Council “consider the purchase of 4.75 acres of land in the townland of Cooltedery for the purpose of supplying car parking.”

There were 80 residential properties sold in Laois in April according to the Property Price Register, a marginal decrease on the 2023 figure.

It is the fourth consecutive monthly decline in Laois property sales, with the first quarter of the year suffering a significant a drop-off in activity.

The All Ireland of Irish restaurants awards took place recently where various Laois entities brought home numerous awards.

The event was held in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, on Monday night where almost 1,200 of the Irish hospitality industry’s owners, chefs, managers and staff gathered to crown the best establishments from across the country.

Rathdowney-Errill hosted their eighth annual ‘Rathdowney Pharmacy’ golf classic in Rathdowney Golf Club.

Since its inaugural year it has been a huge success with both members of the community and players of Rathdowney-Errill GAA.

10 – Planning Permission granted for new residential development in Portarlington

Laois County Council have awarded planning permission to Kingscroft Developments Ltd for a residential development in Cooltederry, Portarlington.

The development is to comprise of 67 homes of two and three storeys in height, on a three-hectare site in the town.
