Laois U-20 FC: Graiguecullen march towards knockout stages with big win over depleted St Joseph’s

Graiguecullen took a big step towards the semi-finals of the Laois U-20 ‘A’ FC as they were far too strong for a very depleted St Joseph’s side this evening.

St Joseph’s hadn’t sufficient numbers to even field against Ballyroan-Abbey in their opening game on the Bank Holiday Monday and giving a walkover there, coupled with this big defeat, means they are essentially now out of contention.

Graiguecullen, minor champions three years ago, got a walkover from Emo-Courtwood in their first game. They are due to play Stradbally Parish Gaels next weekend when a win would guarantee a place in the knockout stages.

St Joseph’s are due to be back in action on November 16 when they travel to Courtwood-Emo.

O’Dempsey’s 4-15 The Heath 2-7
Laois U-20 ‘B’ FC

O’Dempsey’s recorded a big win over The Heath in a game that looks like it will have major implications on who emerges from the group.

O’Dempsey’s had lost their first game by 14 points to Portarlington but recovered with a good win over Ballyfin-Mountrath while The Heath had two wins from two – a narrow two-point win over Portarlington and a more comfortable win over Ballyfin-Mountrath.

But O’Dempsey’s big win here, after leading by 1-9 to 0-4 at the break, is likely to put the Killenard men through to the semi-finals and knock The Heath out.

Portarlington are due to play Ballyfin-Mountrath in the final game in the group on Wednesday night when Port would be expected to clinch top spot in the group and a semi-final place against Rosenallis.

O’DEMPSEY’S: Darren Kehoe; Liam O’Mahony, Kevin Garry, Jim Holland; Jack Dorris, Adam O’Leary, Daithi Kehoe; Finn Craig, Lorcan Coleman; Tristan Punch, Ryan Phelan, Rian Brereton; Dylan Quick, Joe Finn, Daniel Donoher. Subs: Dan Punch, Darragh Fox, Eoin Garry, Ross McMahon, Sean Gutierrez

THE HEATH: Mikey Harrison; Darragh Lewis, Tony Walsh, Aidan Moloney; Cillian Tynan, Jack Keyes, Eamon Browne; John McNamara, Sean Kirby; Sam Rooney, Paddy Fitzpatrick, Tadhg Whelan; Luke Scanlon, Brayan de Souza, Eoin Sherlock.
