A Laois GAA club have announced an exciting fundraising event set to take place at one of the county’s most exclusive locations.
Ballyfin GAA are set to hold a 6km run and walk through the grounds of Ballyfin Demesne.
The run and walk will take place on Sunday, January 26, at 11.30am.
Ballyfin Demesne, a highly exclusive, world renowned hotel, rarely opens it’s gates to the public, making this a rare opportunity to take in the magnificent, scenic surrounds of the former boarding school.
The event will be baby buggy, stroller, and assistant dog friendly.
The prizes will include:
- 1st man and 1st woman – €100 each
- 2nd man and 2nd woman – €40 each
- 3rd man and 3rd woman – €20 each
- 1st juvenile boy and 1st juvenile girl – €30 each
Ballyfin GAA club said they are “delighted to announce that the 2025 route will encompass the grounds, buildings, woodlands, tower and lake.
“The 6k route will start in the exclusive grounds of Ballyfin House just off the main avenue where it heads through the farm buildings and up to the Tower taking in just some of the 614 acres of Parklands.
“Following this avenue participants will soon catch sight of the majestic Main House, long admired as the most lavish Regency mansion in Ireland, which has recently been restored to its former glory.
“The route takes us along the front of the House itself, and makes its way out the avenue where we will turn down by the ‘caves’ before meandering onto the walkway surrounding the lake.
“We will make our way all around the lake taking in some of the most spectacular of views, climbing back up to the main avenue and making our way towards the ‘Main Entrance’ Gate with our finish on the avenue within the grounds.”
Places can be booked by following this link or by paying cash or card on the day.
Entry costs €10 for adults; €5 for U-15s; and €20 for a family (two adults and two children).
