Hinds, Valerie of Mountrath Road, Portlaoise. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on 14th April 2025 at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise.

Daughter of the late George and Connie Hinds, dearly loved sister to Ross, cherished aunt to Gareth, Julian, and Peter. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Gillie and Julian’s wife Susie. Fondly remembered by her grandnephews and grandniece, Lewis, Anabel and Matthew, and by her loving cousins, Barbara, Eleanor, Joan, and Muriel and their families.

The funeral service will take place in St Peter’s Church, Grattan Street, Portlaoise, at 3 pm on Thursday 17th April. Interment will follow in the adjoining churchyard. House private please.

Kilburn , London, England and formerly of Boley, Ballylinan, Co. Laois.

Predeceased by his sister Mary (Casey). Deeply regretted by his brothers Denis, Larry, Ted and Thomas, sister Bernie, brother-in-law , sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends,

Mary Grant (née Bergin)
Cuan Bhride, Rathdowney, Laois/Ballybrophy, Laois

Mary Grant (née Bergin), Cuan Bhride, Rathdowney, Co. Laois and formerly of Newtown, Ballybrophy, Co. Laois, passed away April 13th 2025, peacefully in the wonderful and loving care of the staff at Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home, Portlaoise.

Predeceased by her husband Alan, parents Bridget and Joe, sister Sheila (Fletcher).

Deeply regretted by her sisters Hannah (Murphy-Comerford), Margaret (Deegan), brother Billy, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home, Castletown, Mountrath,(Eircode R32TN84), this Tuesday (April 15th) from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm.

Removal from Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home, Castletown, on Wednesday (April 16th) at 10.15am to arrive at The Church of the Assumption, Killasmeestia, for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

James (Jim) Hearty
Portarlington, Laois

Hearty (Portarlington, Co. Laois) April 13th, 2025, peacefully in the wonderful care of all the staff of the Margaret Kehoe Ward, St. James’s Hospital, James (Jim) late of New Mill Court.

Much loved father of Elaine and Claire. Sadly, missed and always remembered by his loving daughters, sons-in-law Ross and Anthony, his cherished grandchildren Ethan, Brayson, Annabelle and Asher, his former wife and dear friend Peg, brothers Fran, Patrick, Owen and Peter, sisters Helen and Elizabeth, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service on Wednesday (April 16th) at 3.15pm in The Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W followed by cremation.

St. Patrick’s Avenue & formerly Ballintubbert, Athy, Kildare/Laois

Peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Cloverlodge Nursing Home, Athy. Predeceased by her husband Lar. Deeply regretted by her loving children Odette, Lucelle, Stephanie, Larry, Pat and Martin, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Rigney’s Funeral Home, Athy on Monday evening (April 14th) from 6pm until the conclusion of the Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Tuesday morning (April 15th) to arrive at St. Michael’s Parish Church, Athy for Requiem Mass at 11am, see livestream link http://www.parishofathy.ie. Burial afterwards in St. Michael’s New Cemetery, Athy.

Maurice (Mossie) Devoy
Court Square, Stradbally, Laois

The death has occurred of Maurice, better known as Mossie Devoy, Court Sq, Stradbally, Co. Laois, peacefully on the 12th of April 2025 at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise in his 90th year, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Jim and Michael, sister Tweedie and son-in-law Owen McDonald.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Breda, daughter Anne-Marie, Daphne and Carrie, sons-in-law Des and Peter, his adored grandchildren Aoibhe, Conor, Luke and Mia, brother Tom, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his residence, Court Square, Stradbally, from 4pm on Monday (14th April) with Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday (15th April) at 11am in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally and afterwards Maurice will be laid to Rest in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally.

Ann Carroll (née Gorman)
The Brook Mountrath Road, Abbeyleix, Laois

Died peacefully at her home in the loving presence of her family. Dearly loved wife of Mick. Cherished mother to Angela, Catherine, Fíona, Michelle, Sinéad and Michael. Deeply mourned by her brother Tom and sister-in-law Mary. Much loved mother-in-law to Cyril, Seamus, Tomás, Eddie and Joe. Adoring granny to Caoimhe, Ríona, Cathal, Orlaith, Éabha, Matthew, Ella, Lucy, Alison, Kate Daniel and Robert. Deeply regretted by her nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Predeceased by her parents John and Alice Gorman, her infant sister Angela, her brother Billy and sister-in-law Geraldine.

Reposing in the Chapel of repose adjoining the Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix on Monday from 5pm. to 8pm with prayers at 5pm

Removal from her residence at 10.30 am. on Tuesday to the Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix for 11am . Requiem Mass.Interment afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
