In Pictures: New walkway opened as Laois school host Active Week 2025

A Laois school unveiled a new walkway recently as part of their Active Week 2025 celebrations.

Holy Family senior school in Portlaoise celebrated Active Week recently and it culminated in this.

The opening took place on Friday last with MEP Nina Carberry and TD Willie Aird present to help.

Speaking about the occasion, principal Roisin Brennan thanked everyone who helped make it a success.

She said: “We had a fantastic week celebrating Active Week.

“The children completed daily challenges as well as the skipping challenge. Well done to all.

“We finished the week with the launch of our Active Walkway around the school.

“It’s designed to promote active learning and help the children to build more physical exercise into their day.

“We were delighted to welcome Nina Carberry to officially launch our walkway, a fantastic role model for all things active.

“Thanks to local councillor Willie Aird for joining us also.”

Ms Brennan expressed thanks to the other VIPs; the active committee members for all their hard work.
