It is set to be a very busy period for one Laois referee who will step into the national spotlight on two occasions over the next week.
Later today, Colt whistler Padraig Dunne will be the man in the middle for the Leinster Minor hurling final.
He won’t have far to travel for this one as the meeting of Galway and Kilkenny is scheduled for O’Moore Park at 5.15pm.
While one week later, Dunne and his officials will be off to GAA HQ for a national final.
He has been selected to officiate the Christy Ring Cup final between Derry and London.
That game is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, in Croke Park and is part of a triple header.
The Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cup finals are on before that game with Dunne throwing the ball in at 5pm.
This selection is the latest feather in the cap for Dunne who was the linesman at the Munster Championship meeting between Tipperary and Waterford last weekend.
In 2024, Dunne officiated the Leinster senior club hurling championship final between Na Fianna of Dublin and Kilcormac-Killoughey of Offaly.
While earlier that year, he was the man in the middle as Down and Roscommon met in the All-Ireland U-20 ‘B’ hurling championship final.
