Leinster Juvenile Relays
St Abban’s AC had were very well represented on Saturday at the Leinster Juvenile Relays held in SETU Carlow.
Overall, the club won seven sets of medals across a wide range of age groups with athletes competing across all ages.
The Boys U-12 provided the highlight of the day, with Liam, Tom, Ruben and Leo taking home Leinster gold medals.
There were four sets silver medals brought home as well – all on the girls’ side, with second-place finished for all of the following:
The U-9 team of Ciara, Marnie, Beatrice and Hannah; the U-14 team of Roisín, Sophie, Eabha and Faye; the U-15 team of Zoe, Faye, Roisin and Lily; and the U-18 team of Cara, Rachel, Aayliah and Elaine.
There were also bronze medals for the Boys U-17 team of Kalem, Will, Eoghan Mitchell and Eoin Mulkerrins as well as the Girls U-12 team of Meabh, Ava, Penelope and Shana.
Leinster Combined Events
The Athletics Leinster Combined Events took place the following day, again in the grounds of SETU Carlow.
There were no less than four gold medal winners from St Abban’s, with three in the Quadathlon and one in the Pentathlon.
The Quadathlon consists of four events – 60m Sprint, Distance, Long Jump and Shot Putt – with Ava Brophy winning the Girls U-11; Penelope McMahon winning the Girls U-12; and Liam Doyle winning the Boys U-12 Quadathlon.
Cara English claimed top spot after the five events of the U-18 Pentathlon – Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot Putt, Sprint and Distance.
Fit4Life Summer League – Stage 2 Killeen
190 walkers, joggers and runners who travelled to Killeen for Stage 2 of this year’s Fit4Life Summer League.
Kristian Redmond was first across the line in 13:22, with Sinead Fitzpatrick first female home (fourth place overall) in a time of 14:08.
The next stage will take place in Rossmore on Wednesday 4th June starting at 7:30pm.
