Excitement is building ahead of the Joe McDonagh Cup final and on area of the county is hosting its own version of ‘Up For The Match’.

‘Camán to Clough’ is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, the day before Laois face Kildare in Croke Park.

Festivities will get underway at 12.30pm with a camogie tournament set to take place between the grounds at Clough and Ballacolla.

The Clough-Ballacolla Junior Camogie Tournament is back for its second year and five clubs have signed up.

Nurney (Kildare), Kiladangan (Tipperary), Kinnitty (Offaly) and St Vincent’s (Dublin) will join the hosts with the action to conclude at 5.30pm.

After that, everyone is invited back to Mary’s Bar in Clough where the Munster SHC final between Cork and Limerick will be shown on the big screens.

There will also be live music before the pub will host its own version of Up For The Match.

From 8pm, Midlands 103s Joe Troy will be joined by former Laois U-20 manager Ollie Hally plus Austin Bergin.

Austin, who recently featured on the Laois Hurling Podcast, has had a ringside seat for the rise of Kildare hurling and has played his own significant part.

He served as Naas hurling chairman as they began their dominance of the local club scene as well as their All Ireland club intermediate success.

All Laois hurling fans are welcome and admission on the evening is free.
