There was a fantastic atmosphere at Rathdowney Golf Club recently as the club’s Senior Men gathered for Captain Terry Campion’s Prize Day.
The competition was keenly contested, with fine weather and excellent course conditions adding to the occasion.
A large field of senior players turned out to show their support for Terry, who has been an outstanding Senior Men’s Captain throughout the year.
The scoring was tight at the top, with no fewer than three players tied on 38 points, and several more just one or two shots behind.
Final placings were decided on countback, making for an exciting finish.
In the end, Ollie Stapleton took first prize as he had a better score on the final three holes than Ed Carter who was second.
Jim Delaney took third spot while Liam Coady and Sean Bolger finished fourth and fifth respectively on 37 points.
John Gorman and Jim Kells finished sixth and seventh while Paschal Ryan took eighth place.
Following the golf, members enjoyed refreshments and prizegiving, with Captain Terry Campion thanking all those who took part and helped organise the event.
It was a fitting day to celebrate a great year for the Senior Men’s section and to honour Terry’s commitment and leadership throughout his captaincy.
