Local Enterprise Office Laois held another Women in Business event last week as part of a series of events in 2025 to support female entrepreneurship in the county.

There was a large attendance at the event and it was a great opportunity for local business women to network and learn from keynote speaker, Susan Hayes-Culleton ‘Inspiring Growth and Opportunity’.

Susan HayesCulleton, CEO of HayesCulleton Group, led a dynamic business strategy workshop at introducing a proprietary tool that adapts the Wheel of Life for business growth.

The session guided participants through practical frameworks, including product definition, market mapping with the Ansoff matrix, customer segmentation, and the importance of aligning actions with long-term goals.

Reflecting on the event, Susan said:  “Empowering entrepreneurs to take a holistic view of their business is at the heart of what we do.

“Our adapted Wheel of Life tool helps leaders focus on what truly matters—clarifying their offering, understanding their customers, and building the right support systems for sustainable growth.”

Susan also thanked Honor Deevy, Evelyn Reddin, and the Local Enterprise Office Laois team for their warm welcome and engagement.

Susan Hayes-Culleton, known as the ‘Positive Economist’ is Managing Director of the Hayes Culleton Group, with clients across Europe and the USA.

The businesses include Active Peers AI; a tech platform that optimises mentor matching programmes including admin, algorithmic matching, tight feedback loops and effective interactions all in one space.

It also includes Savvy Teens which offers work experience facilitation in corporate organisations. Susan acts as MC at hybrid conferences all over the world.

She is a six-time author including ‘Money Matters’, a financial literacy textbook that is now in every secondary school in Ireland with the support of CFA Ireland.

She has twice co-authored ‘Positive Economics’. the market-leading Leaving Cert economics textbook in Ireland, and she is the author of two books published by Penguin, ‘The Savvy Woman’s Guide to Financial Freedom’ and ‘The Savvy Guide to Making More Money’.

Susan is co-founder of The Positive Economist, and Associate Lecturer at Ulster University. She has also been more recently appointed by Newstalk to present its popular Sunday morning show ‘Taking Stock’.
