Almost €600,000 announced for home improvements for older people and people with Disabilities

€592,189 has been allocated for funding for home improvements for older people and people with disabilities in Laois.

So says Laois TD Sean Fleming who welcomed the news and explained how the funding will be broken down.

He said: “90% of the funding €532,970 is being provided by the Government and 10% (€59,219) by Laois County Council.”

Deputy Fleming also detailed the type of home improvement work that can be carried out under the scheme.

He said: “The works that can be carried out under this scheme include adaptions, extensions and other improvements, stair-lifts, ramps, grab rails, downstairs bedrooms, bathrooms and wet-rooms.

“This scheme is designed to help older people and people with disabilities live in comfort with proper facilities in their homes.

“The easiest way for elderly people or people with a disability to get a form is to phone Laois County Council on 057-8664000.

“People can also contact my office 057-8732692 and an application form will be posted out directly to them in their home.”
