Leaving Cert Diary: At long last – I have joined the ranks of those who can say they have completed it!

Aoife Fitzpatrick is a Leaving Cert student in Scoil Chríost Rí in Portlaoise. From Cullenagh, near Ballyroan, she is hoping to study Global Media in the University of Galway.

Her Leaving Cert subjects were English, Irish, Maths, Biology, History, Spanish and Economics.

Aoife has penned regular diary pieces for LaoisToday over the course of the exams and this is her final one.

At long last, after ten exams, I’m done! I’ve joined the ranks of those who can say they’ve completed the Leaving Cert.

Tuesday morning brought with it my second last exam, Spanish.

Like the rest of my classmates, I thought the written section went well, though I was shocked to discover that the AI influencer that was discussed in the section B comprehension was real!

We were truly baffled when we found “her” Instagram account, with 18.4K followers!

Anyway, the aural section wasn’t as hard as previous years, and much easier than the Irish aural!

Though the last section stumped a few, we all managed to jot something down for every question. Overall, it was a nice paper.

Unfortunately, I had to wait two more days to sit my last exam! Thankfully, Friday morning finally came, and my fellow classmates and I sat our Economics exam, the last exam for a few of us.

Again, students were, overall, happy with the paper. Though some weren’t happy that the oligopoly market structure came up, the question wasn’t too challenging.

Price and income elasticity, employment and international trade (no surprise there) were also featured on the paper.

Honestly, I was just so happy to be sitting my last exam, they could have asked me the questions in Mandarin, and I would still have walked out of there smiling!

Now that my exams are over, as I’m sure all other Leaving Certs can attest to, a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

It was such a relief to walk out of my Economics exam, knowing I didn’t have to hit the books when I got home.

Thank you to everyone who was reading my pieces on the Leaving Cert exams, I really do appreciate it.

Best of luck to those with exams left to do and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

Also, apologies to the sheer number of trees that were harvested to supply me with mountains of paper for my notes!
