In Pictures: Laois soccer club celebrate year of huge success in Carlow League

A big crowd gathered in the Talbot Hotel in Carlow recently as a Laois soccer club came together to celebrate a brilliant season.

Graiguecullen club St Fiacc’s enjoyed huge success in the 2024/2025 season in the Carlow Soccer League.

Back in April, St Fiacc’s were crowned Division 1 champions following a dramatic end to the season.

It culminated in a league decider against Dolmen Celtic which they won 4-2.

Jack Byrne, Aaron Dorgan, Kian Lawler and captain Bobby Dowling were all on the scoresheet.

That secured their promotion back to the Premier Division for the first time 2019.

A month later, St Fiacc’s were pitted against fellow Graiguecullen club St Pat’s in the Division 1 Cup final – which they also won.

The players on that team were presented with their medals while several other members were also honoured on the night.

Alan Smith, Shane Alyward and Sean Maher were presented with Appreciation Awards in recognition of their success with the u14/15 girls teams.

Both teams winning the league and cup doubles and winning the Copa Cup.

Tracey Dorgan was awarded in recognition of her commitment to the club’s Future Stars.

Tracey has been at the helm for the last eight years and gives the Future Stars the best possible start to their soccer journey.

Roy Pearson, Bernard O’Shea, Ronan Minnock and Seamus Brennan were also recognised for their tireless in the background on the pitch development.

Pete Dorgan, who has been involved in the club for a long time as a player but in the last three years he has steered the senior team back to to the Premier Division, was also given an appreciation award.

Darren Murnane was named club person of the year while a range of juvenile awards were also handed out.
