A public meeting over a proposed windfarm which is planned between Durrow, Ballyragget and Lisdowney will take place next week.
The meeting will take place at 8pm in the CYMS Hall, Ballyragget on Monday, June 30, with all invited to attend.
No to Seskin Windfarm Laois/Kilkenny is the group which have been set up to oppose the development.
The group first met at the end of April and have launched a campaign ever since.
This week, planning permission for the windfarm was lodged in recent days.
It is understood that the proposal is for the construction of eight turbines of around 175 metres in height.
A spokesperson for the group says that the proposed development raises ‘significant concerns amongst the local residents about the environmental, health and visual impact’.
They said: “These concerns are in line with the recent motion in Kilkenny County Council that suggested wind energy regulations in Ireland need to be updated and modernised before appropriate implementation of these significant developments can take place.
“The public meeting has been organised by a group of concerned local residents and will provide an opportunity for members of the public and local communities to learn more about the proposal, the effects and impact on their community and to hear from local stakeholders, including local councillors and TDs.
“The proposed wind farm turbines are a tip height of 175 metres with a blade diameter of 150 metres, among the tallest in the country, and includes plans for construction of a new substation and 100 metre weather mast.”
