The death has occurred of Jim McDonald, Ballycrossal, Portarlington, Co. Laois and formerly of Derrydavy, Mountmellick.
Jim died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise.
Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Annie, his loving sister Ann, infant brother Thomas, brother-in-law Jack and nephew David.
Deeply regretted by his sisters Molly and Betty, brother Peter, brother-in-law Pat and sister-in-law Elsie. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephew, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family and friends.
Reposing in Moloney’s Funeral Home Mountmellick on Sunday from 4.30pm. Recital of the Rosary at 6pm . Funeral arriving to St Joseph’s Church Mountmelllick on Monday morning for 11am Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Madeline Casey (née Graham)
Glendalough House, Stradbrook Lawn, Blackrock, Dublin/Glendalough, Wicklow/Laois
Madeline Casey (née Graham) of Glendalough House, Stradbrook Lawn, Blackrock, Co. Dublin and Glendalough Hotel, Glendalough, Co. Wicklow and formerly of Tolerton, Co. Laois, passed away peacefully on 10th July, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her beloved husband John, parents Patrick and Annie, brother Tom, sisters Pauline and Helena and great-grandson Julian.
Madeline will be forever remembered and missed by her loving sons and daughters John, Patrick, Helena, Ann, Peter and Thomas, her grandchildren John, Aoife, Peter, Niamh, Ciarán, Patrick, Grace, Emilie and Rebecca, her great grandchildren Kayleigh, Ezra and Luke, daughter-in-law Sonia, sons-in-law Pat and Jim, sister-in law Ena and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Reposing at her home in Blackrock (eircode A94 K277) on Saturday 12th July from 5pm to 8pm and on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm. Removal on Sunday to St. Kevin’s Church, Glendalough, arriving for prayers at 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday at 10am in Church of the Guardian Angels, Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock followed by burial in Deansgrange Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to Blackrock Hospice or Irish Cancer Society.
Richard Brophy
Upper Sconce, Ballyfin, Laois, R32 PX30/Mountrath, Laois
Richard Brophy, Upper Sconce, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Died July 9th 2025, suddenly at his home, surrounded by his loving family and neighbours. Predeceased by his Granddaughter Georgia Levi.
Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Ellen, daughters Helen, Janet, Caroline, Carmel and Rachelle, grandchildren Ethan, Theo, Ruby, Oisin, Hannah, Amelia, Harrison and Riley, sons in law Alan, Paul, Paul, Robin and Fred, Brother and Sisters, Brothers in law, Sisters in law, Nieces, Nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Richard will repose at his home (Eircode R32PX30) this Friday 11th July, from 12 noon concluding with Prayers at 8pm. Removal on Saturday morning 12th July to St. Fintans Church, Ballyfin for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by cremation at Newlands Cross.
