A very successful Laois Hurlers Captain’s Prize Outing took place on Friday last at Rathdowney Golf Course.
Despite the positive weather forecast Captain, Philip Monnelly, was somewhat concerned, however, he needn’t have been.
Friday was a beautiful day filled with friendly competition and camaraderie.
The course was in great condition, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the greenkeeping staff.
The well-maintained fairways and meticulous greens provided a perfect stage for the event.
The overall winner on the day was the former Castletown and Laois legend, Mickey O’Sullivan.
His performance was nothing short of impressive, displaying steady and skilful golf throughout.
Larry Phelan filled the runners up spot, closely followed home by Joe Keenan. Cathal O’Donnell claimed fourth spot.
Cathal also took home the Longest Drive, while Paul Delaney beat all comers to clinch the Nearest the Pin.
Congratulations to all the winners and especially to Captain, Philip Monnelly, for orchestrating such an enjoyable Outing.
The group take to the fairways again on Saturday August 30 when they travel to Portlaoise Golf Club.
