Excitement building as popular Festival of the Mountain set to return this weekend

Festival of the Mountain returns to Glenbarrow, Rosenallis on Sunday, August 17, at 12PM with a jam packed shedule.

The festival is set to continue its proud tradition as Laois’ oldest festival, established back in 1962.

Organisers say that this year promises to be their biggest yet.

The festival ran until 2019 and then took a five year hiatus before returning in 2023.

That was because Rosenallis and District Vintage and Classic Club stepped in, throwing the festival a lifeline and bringing their expertise to the table to inject new life into the festival.

This year, the site has been significantly expanded to accommodate more on-site parking for visitors, making the experience more accessible for all.

Music from New Light Duo, Timahoe Male Choir and entertainment from Rock On Paddy is set to draw the crowds.

This will be an opportunity to see the Timahoe Male Choir before they gig at Electric Picnic two weeks later.

There will also be special performances by The Red Embers Belly Dancers.

The day will also see Chicken racing, King and Queen of the Mountain competitions, Dog Show, Vintage Vehicles, Tug of War, Archery, Drumming, Irish Dancing, Sheep Shearing, Comhaltas, Face Painting, Amusements, Raffle, and much more.

Entry is €10 (CASH ONLY) and children under 12 go free.
