Series of clinics announced to advise people on grants to renovate derelict and vacant properties

Laois County Council has announced it will host a series of clinics to advise people on the grants that that are available to renovate derelict and vacant properties.

This is due to an overwhelming response to the initial drop-in clinics held earlier in Portlaoise Library in June and July.

The fully attended sessions have prompted the launch of an additional event which will take place at Mountrath Library.

This Clinic will become the start of a county-wide roll-out of similar events.

This expanded initiative “supports property owners, prospective buyers, and developers across Laois who are seeking to transform vacant and derelict residential buildings into homes.”

Organised by Laois County Council Regeneration Unit, these free clinics “offer practical advice and tailored guidance on renovation grants” under the Croí Cónaithe Scheme.

The clinic will include:

  • Insights into available grants and funding supports;
  • Face-to-face consultation with Council experts;
  • Help navigating eligibility criteria and application processes.

Denise Rainey, Town Regeneration Officer, said: “Due to the unprecedented demand and interest in the clinics, we have decided to roll out additional clinics over the next 6 months.

“These clinics will be held in different towns across the County starting in Mountrath. I would encourage anyone with an interest in refurbishing a vacant and derelict building to come along and our team will answer any queries you may have.”

The clinic will be held on Wednesday, August 20, from 10.30am to 1pm and from 2pm to 3.30pm.
