In Pictures: Family fun and fashion day a resounding success for breakthrough cancer research

The Family Fun and Fashion Day held at Fitz Of Inch was a remarkable event, bringing together over 850 attendees in support of Breakthrough Cancer Research.

The day was kicked off by celebrity stylist Marietta Doran and fashion expert Mandy Maher, alongside property manager Michael Fitzpatrick, who hosted the highly anticipated best-dressed competition.

The event was a tremendous success, featuring a vibrant craft fair in the Sir Hurt Barn with an array of stallholders, including arts and crafts people, holistic vendors, antiques, jewellery makers, and many more showcasing their unique creations.

Food vendors, including coffee trucks, ice cream stands, crêpes, and burgers, added to the festive atmosphere, which was filled with joy and community spirit as attendees enjoyed the festivities.

The best-dressed competition was a highlight of the day, with the theme “Festival Chic” inspiring fabulous outfits.

Runners-up Cora O’Brien and Vicky Knight showcased stunning boho-chic looks, perfectly embodying the festival theme.

However, it was Dee Maddock from County Kildare who truly stole the show. Wearing a stunning outfit she purchased 35 years ago for her 21st birthday, complete with a striking leopard print cowboy hat sourced from a charity shop, Dee’s ensemble was unanimously declared the winner by judges Marietta Doran, Mandy Maher, and Michael Fitzpatrick.

The entertainment line-up added to the day’s success, featuring performances from the Vicarstown Ukulele Band, the Buggie School of Dance, Ian Delaney, The Queen Bees, and the Belters, all of whom were an absolute hit with the crowds.

Their lively performances infused the event with energy and joy, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

“It was incredible to witness the creativity and spirit of everyone who participated,” said Michael Fitzpatrick.

“Cancer has touched many lives, and we are proud to play a part in raising funds for such an important cause.

“This event was not just about fashion—it was about creating awareness and community involvement across Ireland.”

The success of the day was a testament to the hard work of the local community, with special thanks extended to Dick White from Breakthrough Cancer Research and all volunteers who contributed to making the event possible.

Michael emphasised, “Without our community, this day would not have happened. I am privileged and proud of everyone who showed up to support Fitz Of Inch and Breakthrough Cancer Research.”

Marietta Doran and Mandy Maher echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of the event in sparking conversations and bringing a sense of fun to a serious issue faced by many.

In addition to the wonderful cash donations received on the day, supporters can still contribute online to Breakthrough Cancer Research through this link: www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/fitzofinch.

This online platform ensures that everyone can continue to support vital cancer research efforts long after the event has concluded.

A heartfelt thank you was also extended to the behind-the-scenes team, from parking attendants to those who donated raffle prizes and helped set up the stage. Their contributions were vital in ensuring the event’s success.

Fitz Of Inch looks forward to future events that continue to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, fostering a spirit of community and support.
