Congratulations to Katelyn Cummins – the 66th winner of the International Festival.

2 – Job losses in Laois as Leprino Foods to cease manufacturing operations in 2026

There has been a jobs blow this week as a big employer announced it is to cease manufacturing operations at its plant in Portlaoise by the second half of 2026.

US cheese giant Leprino Foods opened their state-of-the-art facility in Portlaoise in 2021.

This weekend saw a clean sweep for Group B as Camross defeated Ballinakill by 13 points in the final game of Round 4, making it five wins from five for Group B over their Group A counterparts.

The pair met in Laois Hire O’Moore Park in the second of a double header and Camross came in as big favourites, and their manner of victory justified the odds as they had it won by half time.

A beautiful tribute to a Laois woman who passed away at the start of the month has been posted online.

Mary Theresa Harrington (née Keating), who is originally from Emo, passed away in Canada on August 5.
