Barrowhouse are straight through to the semi finals of the Laois JFC after successfully appealing the result of their encounter with The Rock last Tuesday.
Following the conclusion of the game last week, our reporter had Barrowhouse winning on a scoreline of 0-19 to 1-14.
However, when the final whistle blew, it transpired that referee Ciaran McManus had the score as a draw – 0-18 to 1-15.
With video evidence available, Barrowhouse officially lodged a complaint and this was heard by the CCC on Sunday afternoon.
After hearing from both themselves and Barrowhouse, the CCC decided to award the victory to Barrowhouse.
The Rock have three days to appeal this decision, but if they don’t, Barrowhouse progress as group winners with a game to spare.
They have already beaten Ballyroan-Abbey and Spink, with this victory meaning they can’t be caught even if they lose to St Joseph”s who are already out of the competition.
The other game in Group A pits Ballyroan-Abbey and The Rock against each other.
A win or a draw will secure second place and a home quarter final for Ballyroan-Abbey while The Rock need to win to overtake them.
In Group B, Stradbally currently sit top after winning three of their four group games.
The final places in this group will be decided on Tuesday when O’Dempsey’s host The Heath.
A win or a draw for The Heath will see them qualify directly for the semi finals.
An O’Dempsey’s win means Stradbally finish first to take a semi final spot while O’Dempsey’s would have a home quarter finak,
The other game pits neighbours Killeshin and Graiguecullen together in what is doubling as a relegation semi final.
A draw or a victory for Killeshin sees them survive while Graiguecullen need to win.
