Electric Picnic coverage is brought to you in association with Ramsbottom’s Portlaoise
TG4 will broadcast live from Electric Picnic this weekend and one of the bands who will be featured are from Laois.
Presented by Síomha Ní Ruairc and John Sharpson BEO ÓN ELECTRIC PICNIC will feature live music performances from artists performing on the Collchoill (Hazelwood) and Puball Gaeilge stages.
Byro – formerly known as Coolboy – a four-piece indie rock band from Laois.
The Laois band comprises of Tadgh O’Dwyer (lead vocals and guitar), Fionn Devoy (lead guitar), Ruairi Phelan (Drums) and Alex Power (Bass Guitar).
They formed in the Autumn of 2023 with a style that drew influences from the likes of The Beatles and Thin Lizzy, along with more modern acts such as Catfish and the Bottlemen and The Backseat Lovers.
The lads are also no strangers to TV as they already appeared on the RTÉ series An Ghig Mhór this summer.
Highlights on TG4’s coverage this week will include Bláithín Mhic Cana & Piaras Ó Lorcáin, IMLÉ, John Spillane, Eve Belle, Clada, Amano, Caolan Ryan, Dysania and many more.
The show will also feature interviews and intimate acoustic sessions with some of the biggest names playing at this year’s festival.
A spokesperson said: “The Irish Language has a huge place at Electric Picnic and Beo ón Electric Picnic will celebrate this.
“Along with acts performing in Irish on the Collchoill (Hazelwood) and Puball Gaeilge stages there will be podcasts, yoga sessions, a céilí mór, comedy and the Gaeltacht Camping site.
“Síomha and John will speak to the team bringing all of this to life from festival organisers to artists to festival goers.
“The special hour-and-a-half broadcast will be a celebration of all that’s great about Ireland’s biggest music festival.
“So if you haven’t got your ticket, fear not tune into TG4 to soak up the atmosphere. On TG4 Sunday, August 31 at 9.30pm.”
