Countdown on to LaoisToday QuizCast at Electric Picnic this Friday

Electric Picnic coverage is brought to you in association with Ramsbottom’s Portlaoise

Free bucket hats, free t-shirts and vouchers will all be up for grabs at the LaoisToday QuizCast at Electric Picnic this Friday.

There was standing room only in the Ah Hear tent in the Mindfield arena last year as the popular quiz provided great entertainment and more of the same is on the agenda this year.

Thanks to our Electric Picnic partners – Ramsbottom and Sons, Portlaoise – we have a selection of goodies to give away.

Reigning champion Brian Hogan is back to defend his title, though we do have a slightly new format where the contestants are now in pairs.

Brian is teaming up with his Courtwood club-mate, Laois ladies footballer Aoibhe Byron while there is a new-look Clonad duo of Colin Delaney and David O’Brien.

Completing the lineup is Portlaoise twins Conor and Ross Dunne, who are an entirely new entry and somewhat of an unknown quantity.

“We’re really looking forward to putting on our QuizCast once again,” says Steven Miller from LaoisToday.

“We have done a couple of variations of the quiz over the past couple of years and this will be our fourth time to bring it to a live audience. We have been in the Square Bar in Portlaoise, the Dunamaise Arts Centre and now Electric Picnic for a second year running.”

Also on the agenda are members of the Laois All Ireland-winning camogie team who are special guests.

The action gets underway at 1.20pm in the Ah Hear tent – which is nice and close to the campsites – and promises to be another great start to the weekend’s entertainment.

Colin Delaney appeared in last year’s QuizCast in Electric Picnic, though he’ll be hoping to do a bit better than he did on that occasion!
David O’Brien was in the audience last year and returns as a contestant this time, where he seeks to fill the big boots of his Clonad colleague Murt Norton
