Irish singer Dermot Kennedy has been confirmed as the special guest who will perform at Electric Picnic today.

The Dubliner will team up with The Cranberries and The RTE Concert Orchestra for a very special performance.

This will take place on the Main Stage at Electric Picnic from 3.30pm.

This is the first time that The Cranberries have performed live since the sad passing of lead singer Dolores O’Riordan.

She died in January 2018 and was the principal songwriter of the band, and additionally performed acoustic and electric guitars.

This will be Dermot Kennedy’s third time to play Electric Picnic and his second time on the Main Stage.

Kennedy was a headlining act at Electric Picnic in 2022, a significant performance that marked a return to the festival where he’d played to a small crowd in his early career.

He closed the main stage on the Friday night, showcasing his hit songs and new material from his album Sonder.

A spokesperson for Electric Picnic confirmed the news this morning.

They said: “In an Electric Picnic exclusive, Dermot Kennedy will join Noel and Mike Hogan of The Cranberries with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra today as they unite to perform the band’s iconic songs for the first time in eight years.

“The London Palladium in May 2017 was The Cranberries’ final performance.

“Since then, their music has continued to be as enduringly popular today as it was during the lifetime of The Cranberries.

“Join Dermot, Noel and Mike today at 3.30pm as they perform these hits accompanied by the rich sounds of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.”
