A young Laois girl is all set to donate 14 inches of her hair to a children’s charity and has launched a fundraiser.

10-year-old Grace Kirwan, who hails from Emo, has decided to donate her hair to the Rapunzel Foundation through the Lauralynn Locks of Love charity.

Founded in 2010 by Anna Furlong in New Ross, Wexford, the Rapunzel Foundation was born out of a heartfelt desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals facing hair loss.

Anna’s inspiration came from the moving story of Caitlin Kehoe, an 8-year-old girl suffering from permanent hair loss. Touched by Caitlin’s plight, Anna felt compelled to extend a helping hand.

Grace said: “I’m taking part in Locks of Love for LauraLynn – Hair Donation Fundraiser.

“I am donating 14 inches of my hair which will help the Rapunzel Foundation.

“I’ve been lucky to have lovely long hair all my life and I’d love to help children going through a difficult time.

“I’ve chosen to fundraise for LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause.

“I hope you can help me by donating whatever you can. All donations are processed securely.”

Grace’s club Emo GAA paid tribute to her efforts on social media.

They said: “Emo GAA Club would like to wish Emo girl Grace Kirwan the best of luck with her fantastic fundraiser.

“Grace who is 10 years old and who is daughter to our PRO Mick, is donating 14 inches of her hair to support the Rapunzel Foundation as part of the Locks of Love for LauraLynn – Hair Donation Fundraiser.

“These are two amazing charities who do so much for kids with illness.

“This is a wonderful gesture by Grace and we hope she gets all the support she deserves either by donations or sharing the link on your own social media.

“All donations are gratefully appreciated, and funds raised will go directly to this great cause.”
