Heywood Community School proudly hosted its inaugural “Heywood Unplugged” Multi-Activity Day recently.
This was a vibrant celebration of student wellbeing, teamwork, and school spirit.
The event brought together the entire school community for a day filled with laughter, movement, and meaningful connection.
Held on school grounds, the atmosphere was electric from start to finish.
Students and staff embraced the opportunity to step away from screens and timetables to engage in a wide variety of activities designed to energise and unite.
The day featured bouncy castles, indoor games, team-building challenges, GAA matches, exercise circuits, and a lively Zumba session—each one met with enthusiasm and joy.
The event was a resounding success, with students from all year groups participating and interacting in a spirit of fun and inclusivity.
Teachers and support staff played a vital role, not only in organising and supervising but also in joining the activities with infectious energy and positivity.
Principal Mr. Eamon Jackman expressed his pride in the school community: “Heywood Unplugged was a celebration of everything that makes our school special—our students’ spirit, our staff’s dedication, and the power of shared experiences.
“It was a joy to see everyone come together in such a positive and uplifting way.”
He added: “We wanted to create a day where students could disconnect from the usual routine and reconnect with each other—and we absolutely achieved that.
“I’m deeply grateful to our staff for their enthusiasm and commitment. Their energy made the day a huge success.”
The success of Heywood Unplugged has sparked excitement about making it an annual tradition.
It served as a powerful reminder of the importance of wellbeing, movement, and community in education.
As students returned to their regular schedules the following day, the buzz of excitement lingered, proof that the memories made will last well beyond the event itself.
Heywood Community School continues embrace a holistic educational environment, where learning goes together with connection, creativity, and care.
