The ongoing saga over a quarter final match in the Premier Intermediate hurling championship has taken another twist tonight.
The game in question is Rathdowney-Errill’s 2-22 to 1-15 win over Colt-Shanahoe where not the full allocated time was played.
Colt-Shanahoe appealed the result two weeks ago and the Laois CCC determined that a replay should be granted.
That was scheduled for last Sunday afternoon in Abbeyleix but was subsequently cancelled.
The news of that came 24 hours before hand when Rathdowney-Errill launched an appeal of this decision to the Laois Hearings Committee.
They upheld Rathdowney-Errill’s appeal and that meant they they were to face Mountmellick in Trumera on Saturday evening.
However, Colt-Shanahoe took the step of bringing their case to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).
And following that, Laois GAA have confirmed that the semi final between Rathdowney-Errill and Mountmellick, scheduled for tomorrow evening in Trumera, has been postponed.
A spokesperson said: “Following an interim judgement issued by the DRA, the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Semi-Final between Rathdowney-Errill and Mountmellick, which was scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday), has been postponed.
“Further details regarding this fixture will be confirmed in due course.”
The original fixture took place in Trumera on Friday, September 5, and the full time whistle was blown before the game entered the 58th minute – this was subsequently backed up by video footage on Clubber.
When referee Patrick Phelan signalled for full time, Rathdowney-Errill led by 2-22 to 1-15 – ten points.
