On Friday, September 19, the Clonad GAA clubhouse was filled with warmth and community spirit they marked Culture Night.
This was done with a memorable screening of the acclaimed film An Cailín Ciúin.
Guests were welcomed with complimentary refreshments and the uplifting sounds of traditional Irish music, setting the tone for an evening of connection and shared experience.
The screening transported attendees back to 1970s Ireland, as the beautifully told story of Cáit captivated hearts and sparked meaningful conversations.
The film’s subtle power and emotional depth resonated with all present, reminding us of the importance of storytelling in preserving heritage.
A cuplá focail as Gaeilge was woven throughout the night, celebrating our language and encouraging everyone to take part, whether fluent or just beginning their journey with Irish.
Clonad GAA Club extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, from lifelong members to new faces.
A spokesperson said: “Your presence made the night truly special, and we are grateful for the positive feedback.
“We are grateful for the support of Laois County Council, Laois Arts, Creative Ireland Laois, and the ongoing encouragement of An Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonnacha in all our Irish language projects. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.”
One attendee said “Well done to all involved in Clonad’s inaugural Culture Night. I was blown over by the fabulous ambience and setting.”
