Laois emergency services were called into action last night when a tractor entered the Grand Canal near Vicarstown.
The driver was transporting a load when their tractor entered the water around 7pm.
The driver managed to escape out the back of the tractor before the vehicle became submerged in water.
Laois County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the incident shortly after.
The boat from Strdabally Fire Station was used along with the environmental protection unit from Portlaoise Fire Station.
They ensured that no fuel or oil leaks occurred and then assisted recovery services to pull to tractor back out of the water.
A spokesperson for Laois Fire and Rescue Services confirmed that nobody was hurt.
