Sadness in Stradbally following the passing of ‘true club man’ Dan Kearns

There is deep sadness in Stradbally this week following the passing of the late Dan Kearns.

From Corrig in Stradbally, and a prison officer by trade, Dan passed away on Thursday September 25 following an illness.

Stradbally GAA club, of which Dan was a Vice-President, observed a minutes silence before their Junior A semi final against Ballyroan-Abbey last night.

Posting on social media, the club explained how Dan’s passing will leave a ‘great void’ in the community.

They said: “Dan was a true club man who was always there when needed.

“He stewarded every year at TriAthy, helped at matches on in the pitch, and was a regular seller of Lotto tickets and the €130 tickets.

“Quiet but witty, he gave so much of his time and support to the club, and his presence will be deeply missed.

“Above all else, Dan was a devoted family man. Dan’s passing leaves a great void in our club and in our community.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends at this sad time.”

Dan will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, daughter Ciara, son Damien, his adored grandchild Bobby, son-in-law John Paul, sister Breda, brother Pat, sister-in-law Rita, brother-in-law Tom, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

He will be reposing at his home on Saturday September from 12 noon with recital of the Rosary at 8pm.

Dan’s funeral mass will take place on Sunday in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally at 11.30am and afterwards Dan will be laid to rest in Oakvale Cemetery.

Dan’s Funeral Mass can be viewed on the Stradbally Parish Webcam: https://svtparish.ie/webcam.

    May he Rest in Peace
