Elizabeth (Betty) Davis (née Fitzpatrick)
Old Pound, Ballybrittas, Laois

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff of St Vincent’s Community Nursing Unit Mountmellick. Predeceased by her beloved husband Johnny, her parents Mark and Margaret and her brother Joe. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sons and daughters Martina, Brid, Tom, John, Sinèad, Ailish, Róisín and Rònàn, her beloved brother Eddie, her adored grandchildren Ed, Barry, Aimèe, Ella, Doireann, Pat, Aoife, Emily, John, Luis, Marcos, Sarah, Conor, Darragh, Juliette and Emorine, her great-grandson Pàidì, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law Eddie, John, Kay, Juan, Terry and Lorine, brother-in-law Thomas, sisters-in-law Kathleen, June and Marie, grandson-in-law Paddy, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at her home (eircode R32 T8KO) on Tuesday evening 30th September from 3pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning 1st October at 11:20am arriving St John’s Church Killenard (eircode R32 VW77) for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in the Old Cemetery in Emo Village.

Betty’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of St Martha’s and St Anne’s Units in St Vincent’s Community Nursing Unit for the exceptional care and Kindness to Betty. A special thanks to Portlaoise Hospital and the carers who attended Betty while she was at home.

Anna Melia (née Lyons)
Ashley Gardens, Portlaoise, Laois/Kill, Kildare

Anna Melia (nee Lyons) Ashley Gardens Portlaoise and late of Kill Co. Kildare. 26th Sept 2025. Peacefully in the loving care of Kilminchy Lodge Nursing home. Predeceased by her sons Derek, Brian and David. Beloved wife to Pat and loving mother to Elaine (Hickey) and Alan. Cherished grandmother to Cian, Jamie, Sophie, Rebecca and Odhrán.

Deeply regretted by her loving family. Son in law Ken, daughter in law Siobhán. Brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces. Relative and extended family and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral home on Monday evening from 6 pm until 7.30 pm, with rosary at 7 pm. Removal on Tuesday to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church for 11 am requiem mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery Portlaoise.

Mary Hyland (née Wall)
Garryhinch, Portarlington, Offaly/Mountmellick, Laois

Formerly of Wolf Tone Street Mountmellick County Laois. Peacefully in her 91st year surrounded by her loving family at Oakdale Nursing Home, Portarlington. Predeceased by her husband Jack, son Billy, father Bill, mother Julia, sister Sheila, niece Ann, brother-in-law Paschal and sister-in-law Vera. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving son Eugene, daughter-in-law Gemma, her much loved grandchildren Cormac, Thomas, Stephanie and John, her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families, her many friends and great neighbours.

Reposing in Mahers Chapel of Rest (eircode R32 X5XV) on Sunday evening from 5pm with Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Monday morning at 9:20am arriving St Michael’s Church Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 10am. Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery Portarlington.

Mary’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the carers for the great care and kindness shown to Mary while she was at home. Also our thanks to all the staff in the Regional Hospital Tullamore and a special word of thanks to the staff in Oakdale Nursing Home who were so good and kind to Mary in her final weeks.

Matthew (Matt) Mahon
Derryguile, Mountmellick, Laois/Walsh Island, Offaly

The death has occurred of Matthew (Matt) Mahon Derryguile, Mountmellick, Co. Laois / formerly of Walsh Island, Geashill, Co. Offaly.

It is with heavy hearts that the Mahon family announce the sudden passing of their dear Matt on Thursday the 25th of September 2025.

Husband to his adoring wife and soulmate, Caroline. Doting father and best friend to his beautiful children, Clíona, Aoife and Jack.

Pre deceased by his father Tom, sister Catherine and brother Pauric. Brother to Anne, Tomás, Siobhán, Marguerite, and Noel. Son to Joan, Son in law to Charlie and Mary. Brother in law to Sinéad, Alan, Charlie, Orla and Kevin. Beloved by his nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Admired by all who knew him, and loved him, in his sporting community. A friend to all he met, an inspiration to all who he loved.

Matt will be repose at home in Derryguile (R32P0A6) on Sunday from 2pm. Recital of The Rosary at 6pm.

Funeral arriving to St. Joseph’s Church Mountmellick for Requiem Mass on Monday morning at 11am via Smiths Corner.
Burial after in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Dan Kearns
Corrig, Stradbally, Laois

The death has occurred of Dan Kearns, Corrig, Stradbally, Co. Laois, peacefully at his home on the 25th September 2025 surrounded by his beloved wife and family.

Dan will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, daughter Ciara, son Damien, his adored grandchild Bobby, son-in-law John Paul, sister Breda, brother Pat, sister-in-law Rita, brother-in-law Tom, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

Reposing at his home on Saturday 27th September from 12 noon with Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday 28th September in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally at 11:30am and afterwards Dan will be laid to rest in Oakvale Cemetery.

Main Street, Drangan Village, Tipperary/Portlaoise, Laois

Mary Slattery Née Bowe Main Street, Drangan, Co. Tipperary September 24th 2025 peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the outstanding care of all the staff in South Tipperary General Hospital Clonmel. Predeceased by her mother Elsie, father Mick and sister Phyllis. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Anthony, daughter Dawn, son Mark,son-in-law Adrian, daughter-in-law Jean, granddaughter Sophie, sisters Paula and Anne brothers Sean, Pj and Michael brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing in Brett’s Funeral Home, Mullinahone (E41EV78) on Saturday September 27th from 5pm – 8pm. Requiem mass on Sunday September 28th at 11 am in The Church Of The Immaculate Conception, Drangan followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.
