The volume of games is going down but their importance is increasing.
As September turns to October, all championships are down to the business end now across all grades and codes.
At adult level, attention turns back to hurling this weekend with the senior semi-finals, delayed Premier Intermediate semi-final and Intermediate final, where Clonad and Mountrath meet in a novel decider.
There’s also the Senior ‘B’ final between The Harps and Abbeyleix as well as the senior relegation final between Castletown and Portlaoise.
