HOVENDEN Arthur John (Charlie) (Glenageary, Co. Dublin and formerly of Durrow, Co Laois and AIB) – October 12, 2025, peacefully, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Hilary, much loved father of Jonathan and Ross, adoring Grandad of Millie and loving brother of Harry and the late Bob, Janet and Edie. He will be mourned and missed by his family, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray on Thursday 16th October from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Funeral Service on Friday 17th October at 11.30am in St. Paul’s Church, Silchester Road, Glenageary, followed by private cremation.

Michael (Har) Fitzgerald. Glenbarrow, Portlaoise, Co. Laois and formerly Ballytarsney, Ballyhale, Co. Kilkenny. Died 13th of October 2025 peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents and sisters Anne and Bernie. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Josephine, stepsons Joseph and Declan and their wives Antoinette and Lorraine, his adored grandchildren and great grandchild Connie, sisters Mary, Veronica and Helen, brother Pat, brothers-in-law John, Christy, Greg and Mick, extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm with prayers at 7:30pm. Requiem mass will take place at 11am on Thursday in SS Peter and Paul’s Church Portlaoise followed by interment in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery Portlaoise.

David W. Nolan, Strawhall Villas, Athy Road, Carlow and formerly of Mountrath, Co. Laois, October 12th 2025 in the loving care of the nurses and care staff of Hillview Nursing Home. Beloved husband of Ann (née Quinn) and much loved father of Emma and Ruth.Sadly missed by his loving wife, daughters, twin sister Denise (Lausanne, Switzerland), brothers Gerard and Peter, Ruth’s partner Ken, granddaughter Ella, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Ella’s brother Kai, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Predeceased by his sister Stephanie.
Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home Pollerton Castle, Carlow (R93 H308) on Tuesday (Oct 14th) from 4pm to 7pm.
Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11am in St. Mary’s Church, Bennekerry (R93 RD36). Burial afterwards in Sleaty Cemetery.
Bernard (Benny) Phelan
Mountrath, Laois/Portarlington, Laois
Bernard Phelan, better known Benny, formerly of Mountrath and in recent years Portarlington, Co Laois. Benny passed away peacefully on the 12th October 2025, surrounded by his loving family, and in the gentle care of staff at Droimnín Nursing Home Stradbally. Predeceased by his mother Martha, and father Richard.
Deeply loved and forever remembered by his devoted sister Maura, brothers Richie, Patrick and John, the rest of his immediate family, extended family, and all who knew and cared for him throughout his life, both near and far.
Benny will be fondly remembered for his big heart, love of music, and his lively spirit. He had a song for every occasion and a smile that could light up any room. His laughter, stories, and love of life will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Formerly of Eyrecourt, Co. Galway. Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents William and Angnes and nephew John O’Connor.
Deeply regretted by his loving wife Pauline, daughters Theresa and Aileen, their husband and partner Damien and Frazer, beloved grandchildren, Liam, Rian, Croíadh and Ciara, brothers Liam, John and Declan, sisters Patricia O’Connor, Adeline Whyte and Vera Kelly, extended family, good neighbours and wide circle of friends.
Reposing in Tierney’s Funeral Home, Roscrea (E53 NY70) on Tuesday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Removal from his residence on Wednesday morning at 11.30am arriving at Saint Canice’s Church, Borris-in-Ossory for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in adjoining new cemetery.

George Holland Derrycanton, Mountrath died October 12th after a long illness bravely borne in the exceptional care of the staff at Tallaght University Hospital Dublin.
Beloved son of the late George and Mary.
Deeply regretted by his loving brothers and sisters Jim, John, Mary Parkinson, Sadie Farrell and Michael, nieces, nephews, brothers/in-law Michael and Denis, sisters-in-law Mary Jo, Elizabeth, and Marie, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.

P.J (Patrick) Doogue, 29 Brownshill Rise, Brownshill Road, Carlow and formerly Ballintubbert, Co Laois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on October 9th, 2025, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.
Beloved husband of Anne, much loved father of Nicole and Matty, adored grandfather of Isla, treasured step-father of Antoinette, Avril, Anna and Burtram, cherished brother of Derek, Angela. Kieran and Ian and dear son of Paddy and the late Teresa.
He will be sadly missed by his loving son, daughter, father, grandchild, step-grandchildren, brothers, sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncle, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Reposing at his home, 29 Brownshill Rise, Brownshill Road, Carlow (Eircode R93 K76E) on Thursday (October 16th) from 3pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm that evening. Removal on Friday morning at 9.15am to The Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.
