A young Laois girl has donated 14 inches of her hair to a children’s charity and raised €2,000.
10-year-old Grace Kirwan, who hails from Emo, decided to donate her hair to the Rapunzel Foundation through the Lauralynn Locks of Love charity.
Founded in 2010 by Anna Furlong in New Ross, Wexford, the Rapunzel Foundation was born out of a heartfelt desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals facing hair loss.
Anna’s inspiration came from the moving story of Caitlin Kehoe, an 8-year-old girl suffering from permanent hair loss.
Touched by Caitlin’s plight, Anna felt compelled to extend a helping hand.
Grace raised a total of €2,000 of which €1,700 goes to Lauralynn and €300 goes to the Rapunzel Foundation along with the 14 inches of her hair.
Grace would like to thank everyone who donated and helped her along the way.
She gives a special mention to the hair dresser who cut the hair at no cost, Joann Clinton-Colgan who is the owner of Enchanted Hair Studio.
Congratulations Grace!
