Laois ladies football announce club championship Teams of the Year ahead of awards night

Laois LGFA have announced their club championship Teams of the Year ahead of their awards night next month.

Teams have been selected at Senior, Intermediate and Junior based on performances in this year’s club championships.

The awards will be presented at the Laois LGFA awards night in the Killeshin Hotel on Saturday, November 22.

The achievements of the Leinster-winning minor team and the Laois intermediate team, who reached the All Ireland final, will be celebrated on the night while Player of the Year awards will also be presented.

The Teams of the Year have become a popular addition to the awards scene and across the three grades, 45 players will be honoured.

Five clubs will be represented on the Senior team, led by champions Portlaoise who have five. Beaten finalists St Conleth’s have four while semi-finalists Ballyroan and Sarsfields have three and two respectively. Jane Moore is St Joseph’s sole representative.

The Intermediate team is dominated by champions Graiguecullen who have eight players included, including former Laois and Sarsfields player Mags McEvoy.

Beaten intermediate finalists St Brigid’s have four players named, including U-16 player Lucie O’Reilly, while Ballyfin have two and St Paul’s have one.

At Junior level, champions Killeshin lead the way with seven players, including both midfielders Lucy Gaffney and Ciara Malone.
