Abbeyleix Gardai launched their annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland recently.
Gardai attached to Abbeyleix and Portlaoise Garda Stations are holding a ‘Cops and Donuts’ fundraiser for Special Olympics Ireland and Leinster.
It will take place on Sunday November 23, from 11am to 4pm, at Laois Shopping Centre.
Here, Gardaí will erect a custom-made stand where more than 2000 delicious donuts will be sold to the public by local Gardaí, Special Olympics athletes and volunteers.
The donuts cost €2 for two or €5 for six. All proceeds will go directly to Special Olympics Leinster.
A spokesperson said: “The delicious donuts are sourced from Kellys bakery, Wexford.
“All proceeds go to Special Olympics Leinster as part of An Garda Síochana’s commitment to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
“We will also be joined by trainee Gardai from Garda College, Templemore who are currently on placement with us in Portlaoise Garda Station.
“If you are thinking about joining An Garda Síochána then come along on the day and chat to the trainees about their experience.”
