Laois Hospice Foundation has announced the presentation of new syringe pumps to the Laois Palliative Care Team.
This equipment will be used in the community by the Palliative Care team to enhance comfort and symptom management for patients nearing end of life in their own homes surrounded by their loved ones.
The total cost of this equipment is €22,140 and this is only possible by the generosity of all the people who contribute so generously to Laois Hospice.
A spokesperson said: “Laois Hospice Foundation is now eagerly awaiting the progression of the new Midlands In-Patient Hospice in Tullamore for the people of the Midlands who have been waiting 15 years for this unit.
“It must progress now without any further delays.”
Laois Hospice Foundation was established in 1989 and has gone from strength to strength over the years.
Since its inception, Laois Hospice Foundation has helped to provide a palliative care service for patients whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment.
The Hospice also provides support for the families of such patients.
This total care involves doctors, nurses, a team of specialists and the clergy, who are all concerned with quality of life.
