Laois GAA Fixtures: Saturday lunch time throw in for Portarlington v Athy while U-20 final fixed for O’Moore Park

The Portarlington footballers face a third away game in a row this weekend in the Leinster club championship but it’s a short trip this time as they take on Kildare champions Athy in Newbridge.

The game has the somewhat unusual throw-in time of 2pm on Saturday as the Leinster final is scheduled for the following Saturday in Croke Park. The other semi-final between Tullamore and Ballyboden-St Enda’s is at the same time in O’Connor Park meaning both finalists will have a seven-day gap to the final.

The Camross camogie team are in All Ireland semi-final action on Sunday against Galway champions Killimordaly, though a venue has yet to be confirmed.

The big local game this weekend is the Laois U-20 ‘A’ football final where Killeshin will make an historic first appearance against Stradbally Parish Gaels.

Killeshin players featured in the 2013 final loss to Portlaoise as part of Crettyard-Killeshin while they were also represented on the championship-winning teams of 1985 and 1987 as part of the St Fiacc’s amalgamation that also included Graiguecullen and Crettyard.

Other down games down for decision this weekend are the U-20 ‘A’ hurling semi-final between Castletown and Clough-Ballacolla as well as the remaining U-20 ‘B’ football and hurling semi-finals.

As it stands, the 2025 Laois GAA season is set to reach a conclusion on the weekend after next when the U-20 ‘A’ hurling final and the ‘B’ hurling and football finals are played as well as a possible Leinster club final for Portarlington.
