In Pictures: Mountrath CS students enjoy ‘Play in a Day’ and perform at local Alzheimers Care Centre

It has been a busy couple of weeks in Mountrath Community School with students taking part in two worthwhile activities.

Second year class 2C took part in ‘Play in a Day’ an initiative by Oide Creativity.

This initiative allowed students to engage in a practical drama workshop, facilitated by Catherine Sheriden an esteemed playwright, director and former drama stage lecturer in NUIG and Mary I.

Student voice took center stage, fostering collaborative and creative processes which culminated in a devised play.

Mountrath CS were one of only twelve schools to be selected to take part, making the whole process extra special.

Separately, students and teachers from Mountrath CS Trad Group visited Mountrath Alzheimers Care Centre this month to play some tunes and bring cheer to all.

A spokesperson said: “It was a lovely experience for all involved.

“As a school we are very proud of our students’ involvement in the community.”
