Graiguecullen have suffered a blow ahead of the 2026 season as one of their most influential forwards has transferred away.
Lee Walker has returned to his original club in Carlow – O’Hanrahan’s.
Walker transferred to Graiguecullen in 2022 and instantly cemented himself as a regular in the team.
Such was his impact that he was called into the Laois panel in 2023 by then manager Billy Sheehan.
But he departed the panel midway through that season and actually featured for Carlow earlier this year.
Walker was the top scorer from play in the 2023 edition of the Laois SFC and started every game for Graigue in the two years that followed.
Typically at centre forward, he was instrumental as Graiguecullen reached the Laois SFC semi final this year – losing to eventual winners Portarlington.
Walker’s departure will certainly be a loss for Maurice Browne’s charges who will go into 2026 seeking a first Laois SFC win since 1965.
