Stradbally Town 5-0 Spink Celtic
CCFL Shield Round 1
Stradbally Town’s attention turned to the CCFL Shield Sunday morning against fellow Laois side Spink and they came through it after a good display of football.
Fionn McEvoy was first on the score sheet after 21 minutes when he got on the end of a Benny Lawlor pass and finished low to the keepers right.
Justin Lalor made it two on 27 minutes with a fine individual goal while Benny Lawlor got in on the act before the break with a fine left footed finish low to the keepers left to make it 3-0 at the break.
Spink came out a different side in the second period and were unlucky not to have one back on 49 minutes when they struck the post from a penalty.
And they struck the woodwork again on 55 minutes with a fine effort from 25 yards.
These two moments proved the difference as Stradbally went up the other end with the goal of the game from John Clancy chipping the keeper from all of 30 yards after a superb Colin Beale pass.
The game was then wrapped up on 78 minutes when Fionn McEvoy grabbed his second of the day to add to a great display from the Stradbally front man.
The victorsalso had Eamonn Delaney as their man of the match, while James Devoy, Cillian Maher and Colin Beale also excelled.
