Florence (Florie) Geoghegan (née Cantwell)

Formerly of Durrow, Co. Laois.
11th December, 2025. Peacefully, surrounded by her family in the compassionate care of the doctors, nurses and staff at The Mater Hospital; pre-deceased by her loving husband Michael and grand-daughter Shannon. Florie will be sadly missed by her best friend, daughter Ann, sons Michael and Alan, grandchildren Lisa, Jean, Leanne, Aaron, Amy and Daniel, great-grandchildren Mason, Carter, Harvey, Hudson, Layla, Tommy, Ava, Hugo, Kayla, Clodagh, Crioa and Tommy, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Florie’s Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday December 17th at 10.00a.m. in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Sillogue, followed by cremation in Dardistown Crematorium.
John Hyland
27 Corrig Lane, Station Road, Portarlington, Laois/Athy, Kildare
Late of Rathgilbert, Athy. Predeceased by his parents Madge and John Hyland, Rathgilbert House , Ballylinan and sister Ita (Curtis). Deeply regretted by his loving brothers and sisters Maureen, Bridie, Eilish, Denis, Michael and Imelda, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Rigney’s Funeral Home, Athy (R14 TX26) on Monday evening (December 15th) from 5pm until the conclusion of the Rosary at 8pm. Removal at 10.30am on Tuesday morning (December 16th) to arrive at St. Anne’s Church, Ballylinan for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Ballylinan Cemetery.
Kay Conroy (née Breen)
Newpark, Portlaoise, Laois/Shinrone, Offaly
Kay (Catherine) Conroy (nee Breen), Newpark. Portlaoise and formerly Garbally, Shinrone, Co. Offaly. 13th December 2025. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Joe. Dearly loved mother to Ray, Paul, Helen (Bergin), Gordon, Barry (Brussels) Maeve (Armitage) (Australia). Predeceased by her brothers Donal and Tadhg. Deeply regretted by her family. Sons in law John and Rod, daughters in law Liz, Hazel, Maura and Ulrike and her dearly loved 17 grandchildren. Sisters in law Breda Breen and Frances Conroy, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and former colleagues in the nursing profession.
Reposing at Keegans funeral home on Sunday evening from 6.30 pm until 8 pm with rosary at 7.30 pm. Funeral arriving at SS Peter and Pauls Church on Monday for 1 pm requiem mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Pauls cemetery Portlaoise.
Madeleine (Madge) O’Grady (née Farrell)
Rosenallis, Laois
The death has occurred of Madeleine (Madge) O’ Grady (nee Farrell) of Birmingham, England and formerly Johnsgrove, Rosenallis, Co. Laois on 26th November 2025.
Madeleine passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family and the staff of Roxton Nursing Home, Birmingham. She will be forever missed by her loving daughters Sharon and Angela, her son Martin, her adoring grandchildren David, Connor, Georgia and Amy, sisters and brothers, sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews and her very many friends. Predeceased by her beloved husband and soulmate Jim.
Madeleine’s Funeral will take place on Monday 22nd December at 12pm at the Erdington Abbey, 10 Sutton Road, B23 6QL, Birmingham. The mass will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person at www.erdingtonabbey.co.uk
Burial afterwards at Oscott College Cemetery, B23 5LF will be private for close family.

Nuala Harris (née Maher)

HARRIS, Nuala (née Maher) 9th December 2025 (Portarlington, Co. Laois and late of Woodbrook Park, Templeogue, Dublin). Peacefully in the company of her loving family in the care of the nurses and staff in Oakdale nursing home in Portarlington, Co. Laois. Predeceased by her loving husband Aylmer and sons Colum and Brian. Sadly missed by her children Kevin, Sinead, and Deirdre, her beloved grandchildren Gregory, Laura, Jessica, Chris, Steven and Éibhinn, daughter-in-law Breffeney, sons-in-law Paul and Kevin, her sister Rose, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.
Nuala will repose at Fanagans Funeral Home, Willbrook Road, Rathfarnham, on Sunday from 3.00 pm. until 5.00 pm. Funeral Mass will take place in the church of the Holy Spirit, Ballyroan at 10am on Monday 15 December followed by burial at Bohernabreena Cemetery. Formerly of Clogrenan Ballinabranna County Laois. Peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Mattie, family Ailish, Michael, Matthew, Aine and Catriona, brothers Jimmy and Murt, sister Mary, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at her residence (eircode R32 TF72) on Saturday evening from 5pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Sunday morning arriving St Fintan’s Church, Mountrath for Requiem Mass at 11:30am. Funeral afterwards to St Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.
