Young Laois man’s Lourdes parish fundraising song raises more than €2,000

A beautiful rendition of a much loved Christmas classic has raised more than €2,000 for a very worthy cause.

20-year-old Ross Molloy recorded and released his own version of ‘When A Child Is Born’ recently.

And the Stradbally native decided to release it in aid of the Stradbally Parish Lourdes trip.

The Stradbally group have organised to go on the holy trip from June 8 to 12 next year.

The cost of the trip, which includes flights, bus transfers, hotel and meals is €825 per person.

Members from Stradbally have previously attended Lourdes as part of the Portlaoise Parish group.

So this will be their maiden voyage and Ross says that while many people wish to go, the cost if prohibitive for some.

So, in order to try help, he has released this song in a bid to raise as much money as possible.

He said: “Over the past two years, I have travelled to Lourdes with Portlaoise Parish, this year our own Parish of Stradbally will travel as their own independent Parish.

“Lourdes is a place that brings enormous comfort, hope, and healing to so many people in our community.

“Unfortunately, not everyone who wishes to go can afford it.

“That’s why I decided to take on this recording — to do my part in helping make that journey possible for those who need it most.

“Every single donation raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to the Stradbally Parish Lourdes Fund.

“No matter how big or small, your support will truly make a difference and help change someone’s life.”
