Laois County Council have decided to sell the final of four industrial enterprise sites in Portarlington for a sum of €170,000.
The site, measuring 0.476 hectares is Site C in Canal Road Business Park, Portarlington, has been bought by Priority Construction.
Established in Ireland in 1967, Priority Construction provides turnkey civil engineering services, including earthworks, site preparation, roads, drainage, landfill, remediation, wastewater treatment, and concrete structures across various industries.
Priority Construction have snapped up the last of four sites on lands on the former Avon Factory complex.
Fletchers Hardware in Portarlington previously purchased one while P McVey Building Systems, a construction company from Derry, bought the other two.
Independent Councillor Aidan Mullins proposed that the Council complete the sale and this was seconded by Fine Gael’s Paddy Buggy.
Laois County Council also approved the sale of three other pieces of land at their meeting.
0.195 acres of land in Ballyroan was sold to Cody Bland of Mountrath for €30,000 – this was proposed by Independent Councillor James Kelly and seconded by Fine Gael’s Barry Walsh.
0.366 acres of land in Durrow was sold to Emmet Wall from Ballacolla for €40,000 – proposed by Fine Gael’s John King and seconded by Independent Ollie Clooney.
Finally, it was agreed to sell 10.73 square metres of land at Carrig Glas in Stradbally to the ESB for €1 – proposed by Independent Ben Brennan and seconded by Fine Gael’s Paddy Buggy.
