TG4 have announced that they will show highlights from the 2025 edition of Electric Picnic in three episodes over Christmas.
For the very first time this year, the station broadcast from Ireland’s largest music and arts festival.
Presented by Síomha Ní Ruairc and John Sharpson from their studio in the Hazelwood/An Chollchoill area, the programme featured live music and interviews with some of Ireland’s biggest acts.
Highlights included interviews and performances from Kneecap and Amble on the main stage, as well as music from An Puball Gaeilge, Hazelwood/An Chollchoill stage and live sessions from the studio.
To celebrate that historic broadcast, a special highlights series from the festival will air on TG4 over the Christmas period.
The first episode will air on December 29 at 9.45pm, the second on New Year’s Eve at 9.35pm and the final one on January 4 at 9.15pm.
BEO ÓN ELECTRIC PICNIC: BUAICPHOINTÍ will give viewers the chance to see brand-new content from this year’s Electric Picnic.
This will include an interview with KhakiKID, one of the country’s most exciting new artists.
Presenter John Sharpson spoke with him ahead of his performance in the Electric Arena Tent in front of 12,000 people. We’ll hear him perform his hit song DATE NITE at that energetic show.
Irish music legend MUNDY will also feature on the programme; he spoke after performing at the festival and played a special version of his song MEXICO for the show.
The Irish language has a visible role at Electric Picnic, and this series will highlight that fact. An Puball Gaeilge in the Mindfield area features a wide range of events and performances in Irish.
Interviews with attendees and musicians will be featured, along with music from CLADA, AMANO, CAOIMHÍN, BYRO, and EVE BELLE.
New music will also be heard from the Hazelwood/An Chollchoill stage, featuring John Spillane, The Fogues, IMLÉ with Róisín Seoighe & James Shannon, Jessie & The Veil, and Lisa Murray.
The Donnys, The Arbour Hillbillies, and The Gladstone Band all performed live acoustic sessions in the studio which will feature across the series.
Viewers will also get the chance to look back at highlights from the original broadcast, including music and interviews with Kneecap and Amble.
A spokesperson said: “The series will be a celebration of Ireland’s biggest music festival.
“If you weren’t there this year, don’t worry — tune in to TG4 and you’ll be right in the heart of it all.”
